Around the NWHL
The NWHL started their season by announcing an exclusive three-year partnership with the streaming website Twitch. The partnership with the game-streaming service will make NWHL games easier for fans to watch and make keeping up with the league much easier. After bouncing around, streaming their games on different media platforms like YouTube and Facebook Live, having a steady place to find NWHL games is a massive improvement for the league.
As part of the partnership with Twitch, the NWHL is able to do more fan engagement events like the “Most Loyal Fans” contest in which fans will earn points for watching NWHL games and interacting with links and checking out merchandise.
The NWHL also added new sponsorships this season. While Dunkin Donuts, one of the first sponsors of the NWHL, renewed its sponsorships, the NWHL added companies like Chipwich Ice Cream, American Giant and Legal Sea Food.
Specifically, Legal Sea Food has partnered with the Boston Pride. The Boston-based restaurant chain will provide prizes during home games called the “Lobster Lab;” a foam lobster being shot into the crowd at home games. Fans will also be able to get free samples of Legal Sea Foods’ famous clam chowder from the “Chowdah” Van which will be outside Warrior Ice Arena during Pride home games.
