Support for Flyers Oskar Lindblom continues to spread across the league as players from other teams take to twitter to show their support with Oskar Strong tees. The Arizona Coyotes and the New Jersey Devils are the most recent clubs to sport the popular Biscuit Tees Oskar Strong shirt. Former Flyer Wayne Simmonds posed with PK Subban and teammates on the Devils official twitter.
This past weekend, the Boston Bruins hosted the 2019 Willie O’Ree Skills Weekend, an event where boys and girls from Hockey is For Everyone programs gather to participate in skills clinics and learn from O’Ree.
More than 80 boys and girls from 17 Hockey Is For Everyone programs from across the United States and Canada are here this weekend to show off their skills, take in the sights, attend the game between the Boston Bruins and Edmonton Oilers at TD Garden on Saturday, and get some hockey and life lessons from O’Ree, the NHL’s Diversity Ambassador, and other prominent speakers. – NHL.com
The Willie O’Ree Skills Weekend is one of the programs that children in the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Program are able to participate in.
On January 1st the NHL announced that the Minnesota Wild will host their first outdoor game with the 2021 NHL Winter Classic. The Minnesota Wild will host the 2021 Bridgestone Winter Classic at Target Field, one of the smaller venues that the Winter Classic has been held in. Target Field has a seating capacity of 38.544 people, just a couple hundred short of the 2010 Winter Classic between the Bruins and the Flyers at Fenway Park, which holds an even 40,000 people.
This will be just the second outdoor game the Wild have been in since their Stadium Series game against the Chicago Blackhawks in 2016.
